The Unfortunate Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

Home » Health & Beauty » The Unfortunate Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are the swelling of the veins located in the anal canal. The anal canal veins can inflate and lead to what is known as internal hemorrhoids or the inflammation around the anus opening leading to external hemorrhoids. These two forms of hemorrhoids can happen simultaneously.

 Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

General Symptoms of Hemorrhoids Infection

The most common signs of both internal and external hemorrhoids infection include:

1. Bowel bleeding: This is usually caused by the struggles as one tries to expel stool through the anus. This may result in red blood stains on the tissue paper.

2. Rectal pain: This is a kind of pain that is usually felt particularly when one is cleaning the anal opening. This pain becomes severe at the slightest touch of any part around the anus.

3. Itching around the anal area: This development is more common during the initial phase and becomes more severe as the condition continues its spread around the anal canal.

4. Difficulty in passing out stool: This may occur as a result of severe pain and itching near the anal region or outward swelling of the veins which affect the smooth muscles and bowel movement.

5. Leakage of feces: This is a common symptom of hemorrhoids. This happens as result of the condition and leads to failure of the normal working of the muscles around the anal region.

The Symptoms of Internal Hemorrhoids

If you are experiencing internal hemorrhoids, the symptoms may include the following:

  • After having your bowel movement you may notice stains on the tissue. Sometimes blood may be seen on the stool surface.
  • Although internal hemorrhoid formation is often small inflamed veins in the anal wall, they can become large. They may be painful at times particularly when the muscles in the anal canal compress.
  • In some cases, you may start having signs of leakage after your normal bowel movement. This is as a result of the swollen hemorrhoids usually at the end section of the large intestine.

The Symptom of External Hemorrhoids

If you are experiencing external hemorrhoids, the symptoms may include the following:

  • Skin irritation commonly makes one feel itchiness on the skin particularly around the anal canal.
  • You may notice blood clotting under your skin which can be painful. This is referred to as clotted hemorrhoids or thrombosis.
  • External hemorrhoids symptoms are associated with difficulty in sitting because the external ones induce a constant, painful feeling in the anal canal area. This makes it difficult sitting down to relax or even do anything that requires a sitting position.
  • A change in behavior becomes pronounced once a person is infected by hemorrhoids. This can include walking style and a general discomfort affecting other everyday activities.
